Empowering a Community of Practice through Podcasting

In September 2021, MADE (Media And Design in Education) was created – an online community of practice started by EdTech Office staffer Inga Breede at the University to Toronto to connect colleagues with a background or interest in educational media and design. What started as a bi-weekly Teams meeting with just 5 members has now expanded to over 60 members from different faculties and campuses. Early on, the community expressed an interest in bringing in special guests to speak to the community which quickly evolved into a podcast series, MADE for U of T. Our guests- so far – have shared their expertise in everything from instructional design, media accessibility to media production, which has proven to provide incredible insight and new ideas that our community members have been able to apply in the work they do.
